Rock Steadya real love survives...a rock steady vibe! 18 April The CliksSo this concert was also great. It was just me and Wanda going. We got there a bit after 7:15pm. There was like maybe 5 other people. Then as time went on more people started to show up. The opening band was called Ultra Magnum or something. They were really good, they reminded me of Weezer, and they reminded Wanda of Pavement. I hope to see them again someday. The Cliks came on about 8pm. Friggen awesome :)... Lucas (the lead guitarist/vocalist) smiled at me like the whole time, prolly cause I was the only one who was singing along. Haha. Nina rocked on guitar too. And Meg was awesome on drums and Jen was an awesome bassist, I'm in love with her now. After they played. Wanda and I stayed around to meet the band. Lucas came and gave a few of us free stickers and pins and told us to tell our friends about them, and how he didn't expect Winnipeg to have as many fans and we do of them haha. Then Wanda and I got pics with the whole band. And it was a fun night :) Come back soon the Cliks!!! Next concert: Interpol - April 20th (Hopefully...), and John Mayer - April 26th :) 08 April Taking Back Sunday w/ Armor For Sleep & Ten Second EpicMy friend James are I were suppose to go to this together. But that did not happen. So. Another concert I go solo. I was running late as usual. So I got there around 8:15 or 8:20ish. Trying to find a parking space downtown is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. So I get there, and I find that I have missed Ten Second Epic, and got there just in time to watch Armor For Sleep play their last song. I love Armor For Sleep so I was pretty heartbroken I missed them. So after they finished, I decided to go get a seat. That was a good long wait. So, TBS!!!!! Yeah, they're good I mean, well, they weren't really a good live band, but I do love their music. But whatever. I enjoyed it. They played mostly their new songs. A few of their older songs. A good mix. But when they played "Miami", I seriously didn't know it was that song till about midway through it. Haha, it didn't sound anything like the album version! Well that's basically it. Didn't buy any merch. Had no cash with me. And I think I was poor at the time haha. Sorry about writing this one so late. Haven't had time! OK so next concert is The Cliks, April 10th. 24 März Thornley w/ Jet Set SatelliteSo it all starts with my friend Wanda not getting our concert tickets. Haha. We go to Silverado's expecting them to sell tickets at the door, so the people behind us said they see a sign that says "SOLD OUT - Tickets will NOT be sold at the door!". So we both were like, should we stay or should we go... :P We decided to stay in line just to see what happens. In the line, the guy in front of us was talking to us pretty much the whole time, he was saying this was his third Thornley concert in 3 weeks. He just saw them in Brandon last night. So moving up in line, by the doors, I decide to peek in, and I see a security person checking what I thought were to see if people had tickets. So I was getting nervous and telling Wanda we should go cause I don't want to get in trouble haha. But she was like no lets just see what happens we're almost there. So we finally get inside, and the guy in front of us went, then I gave my ID, the guy checks, and then puts it through the door, so I go through, and I take it, and I guess the girl at the other desk was taking tickets, but Wanda was like "just keep walking" so I kept walking and she was right behind me. Haha, it was great, didn't even get stopped. But she forgot to pick up her ID. Haha. Then we meet up with the guy in front of us and he introduces himself as Daniel I believe and we introudce ourselves. Wanda buys him a beer upstairs, and buys me a Smirnoff and herself a water. We go directly down to the floor. At first we were to the very right of the stage. Still a good view. JetSet were playing. They got the crowd going pretty good. JetSet is a local Winnipeg band, one of the best I should say. My first time hearing them and seeing them, but they were awesome. Wanda and I finally get to more of the middle of the stage. Rock out a bit. The end of their set, while they were taking apart their instruments, I got to shake the guitarists hand and the lead singer's hand. They're really friendly. While waiting for Thornley to start some Molson Canadian girls came out and started to throw hats to people in the crowd. Wanda got one, she said it'd be a good hat for work. I told the photographer from Power 97 that he had a nice camera and he's like "Ever used one?" and I was like "nope" and he was like "Then how do you know it's a nice camera?" and I said "Because a photographer is using it." :) Then I tried on the Molson hat and the photographer said it looked good on me, but I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic. Ummm Thornley comes on finally!!!!! I was screaming, and Ken smiled and winked at me :) :) :) They completely blew the roof off the bar. They amazed me. Ian apparently wrecked his voice. And he told us medically speaking he shouldn't even be talking right now :( Poor guy. But he sucked it up and made one hell of a show for us. Then he told us how he kept getting hiccups and how they were pissing him off. Haha. After they played the other guitarist shook my hand and while shaking it he handed me two picks. I gave one pick to the guy behind me, he was very thankful. Ok trying to think of things.... Oh there was this girl who threw some note to one of the stage people helping out with Thornley, and then later he threw either a guitar pick or drumstick back to her, and one of the guys behind me was like "Ohhh someone won a fuck tonight!" Everyone started to laugh. So after all that, I went and bought some merch, and got autographs from Thornley and JetSet. I got to hug Ken, he said "Hey sweetie, you rocked!" :D After just hanging out, Angela and Crystal from work were there, and Crystal was like "Omg! What are you doing after? Wanna come party on Thornley's tour bus with us?" So she wrote her cell # on my arm with a Sharpie. Wanda and I went and sat in my car and were just flying. Then saw Thornley's tour bus pull in. I phoned Crystal to let her know. Then Wanda and I saw Ian shaking peoples hands from his tour bus so we grabbed the camera and ran to the bus. Talked to him for a bit about what happend to his throat and everything. Then he invited us on his bus. We went in, and it was Whore City in there. We chilled with Ian for a bit, got pics with him and then I saw Cyrstal and Angela go to the veryyy back of the bus...haha. Said goodbye and left just as the pizza was getting there! :P So after not having a ticket, kind of sneaking in, then getting front stage and then chilling on Thornley's tour bus, we were just in a super great mood! Just proves, just not to give on things. Just keep going... So Ian is incredibly nice and I shook his hand. And I don't want to wash it yet. But I have to shower. So....that's that. Next concert: Taking Back Sunday: tonight! 01 März Wolfmother w/ The Icarus LineSo, my first concert of the year, was an amazing one at that. You see, I haven't disliked a concert really bad yet, they've all been pretty sweet. But then there's Wolfmother, they just blow you away. So, I get to my friend James' house around 6:40pm, we decide to take one car, so his friends that are coming pick us up around 7:30ish. Have troubles finding a parking place of course...drove around a few times, finally got a decent one. Got in and sat down right away. The Icarus Line was already playing. James had troubles telling if the lead singer was a man or woman, but then after awhile he's like "ok it's for sure a guy"...haha. They were alright, not good enough to open for Wolfmother. I was thinking they'd be more of a rock bar band, but they're almost indie/emo lol. So after their set was done some guys were yelling at them never to come back. Around 8:30ish, Wolfmother comes out :) Set list from what I remember (not in order): Dimension White Unicorn Woman Mind's Eye Pyramid Witchcraft Love Train (New Song lol) Communication Breakdown *Cover of a Led Zepplin song* Joker & The Thief (they saved that song for the very last, at the end of the encore! amazinggg) Quotes: "We went to a music store here, and they didn't have any Wolfmother!" "Don't think of this as the encore, think of this as the Second Phase of the concert" "We'll be here for awhile, we like to keep it going, we like to rock" (or something like that, cause each of their songs lasted like 10 mintues, awesome!) So all in all, wonderful amazing, awesome, crazy concert! The bassist/keyboardist is crazy! James thought he was gonna break his keyboard, he was pounding away so hard... hehe. Next concert: Taking Back Sunday - March 23rd! 19 November SliiiideThe Goo Goo Dolls So, my best friend Brianne came from Brandon to see the concert with me! It was an awesome time. We were late, yes. Mostly trying to find a stupid parking place. We finally went to one of the level parking lots, of course we had to park 2nd last to the top. Ran to the Burton Cummings and went inside. Went up the stairs to our section on level 1, found a couple empty seats assuming they were ours. Saw the end set of Tomi Swick. They sounded good, too bad we were late. Oh well. Then after they played, some lady came and asked people if she could see our tickets, and we were in the wrong seats, we were suppose to be on the other side of the row where we currently were sitting. Then Bri wanted to go for a smoke, stood outside freezing, I kept telling her to suck it up...the cigarette. There was a couple people beside us smoking marijuana. Another girl wearing a very short skirt...that she shouldn't be wearing. Interesting. Went back inside, and there was some girl arguing with the security person, she was trying to get on the floor, and he wouldn't let her...haha. Hmm, waited awhile, and then finally the Goo's came. Good concert yes! Amazing. Bri said even she knew quite a few songs which is sweet cause she's the biggest country fan I know. They're playlist from what I remember: Slide Broadway Iris Let Love In Give a Little Bit Naked Stay With You Hmm and some more I don't remember. Got some pics, of course they're not great cause I was far away. But actually it was still a very good seat, better than when I saw Garbage I guess. Except there was this girl in front who kept putting metal horns up (IT'S NOT A METAL CONCERT!!!! Stupid girl.) And there was guy who was standing who was singing his whole heart out the row right in front of us, and yeah he was kind of funny. And the girls next to us were making fun of people the whole time. Well that's that and I'd definitely see them again. 7 1/2 of 10. (Losing points because they didn't play "Here Is Gone".) Next concert? Who knows, there's none lined up currently, I have no money right now... 06 November Frank Black! And a new friend...I'm tired, but thought I'd get the pic's up, and start a blog. Hmm, if I rememeber correctly, driving downtown was a pain. I hate driving downtown. But alas, I get to the Pantages Playhouse, and it is dark and looks as if no one was in there...and to my surprise, the Frank Black concert has been moved to The Pyramid, the bar where I went to see She Wants Revenge! So I kinda knew how to get there. I parked where I parked for Bad Religion, and walked....the opposite direction that the Pyramid was in, so I stopped and asked a guy where it was and he pointed me in the direction. I get there around 8pm maybe? And there was a line up of maybe 50 people already. Who knew that Frank Black was that well known in Winnipeg? But supposedly Winnipeg does have a wide variety of music tastes, after all, they did bring Kenny Rogers here...haha, ok honestly I would've gone to see him if I had $70 Finally get in, expecting there to be a huge crowd of people in front of the stage. But no, there was maybe 7 of them. So I joined the few that were in front of the stage, and that's how I met my new friend Wanda. It was the longest wait in history so of course there's gonna be conversations involved. There was alot of talking between us, mostly about music of course and her two member band. There was alot of waiting too. Too much waiting. Anyways, around 9ish I believe, Kentucky Prohpet came on to open for Frank. He was very huge. And very funny. He is a white rapper, but raps about obscene things like mutant girlfriends or whatever else. He had about 7 songs. Not quite sure. The crowd pretty much enjoyed him, except at the end of his set there was a guy who yelled out "DON'T COME BACK"...people are rude. Umm, it was another long ridiculous wait. Some more talking. Wanda went to buy us a couple bottles of water. Then about 10 to 10pm, I really had to go to the washroom, like badly, stupid water. And there was a HUGE crowd all behind us and I knew if I left someone would take my place. So this guy beside me told his girlfriend he had to go to the washroom and I was like, hey hey wait for me! And they were like ok go with him we'll hold your place. So when I went back, sure enough they let me had my place back! So front row to the left a bit. Great view. Frank Black came on and there was a roar. And yeah, just a great setlist, mostly songs off his new record. (FYI - Frank Black is the lead singer of the well known alternative rock band The Pixies) If you knew that already. I love you. Honestly. After he played, I quickly grabbed one of his playlists. The people beside me were quite jealous, yes. Wanda got one of Billy's drumsticks. After, we walked around, and some guy stopped me and was like is that Frank Black's set list and I said yeah and he's like "can I take a picture of it?" and I set it down and he's like "and that's Franks writing too!" Oh yes I'm special enough to get it. After he played, Wanda and I went to get autographs, first from the guitarist, excellent guitarist! He thanked us for rocking out. And then went to get Billy's autograph, he said I had a great smile, and he signed the playlist "keep on smilin - billy"...hehe so cute. He was adorable. I wanted to hug him. Umm, then we went over to meet Kentucky Prophet. He is such a nice-down-to-earth guy. He told us that he took Frank shopping to George Richards Big & Tall store and got Frank to help him buy new clothes for tonight's show. Haha. Yeah. That's basically my awesome night. I drove Wanda home, she told me that I should jam with her band sometime! That was wikid. Anyways, peace out. Next concert: Goo Goo Dolls! 26 September F*ck Armageddon, This Is HellBAD RELIGION AND DROPKICK MURPHYS!!!!!!! What an amazing show! I got there at 7:30 PM, and found my seat. I sat next to this pregnant girl and her boyfriend/husband whatever. That was interesting. I had a very good [seat]...I hate seats, but there was no more floor tickets left. I had a good view anyway. I got there pretty much when Clit 45 ended their set. They're a band from California I think. Didn't get into them much, so I have no judgement. There's about a 20 minute stage set up for Comeback Kid. I really did NOT enjoy them. And it's weird cause I knew something was wrong with the vocals. And when the lead singer told us that he switched from guitar to vocals in the past 5 months, it clicked that, that's why the songs don't really sound the same as on their album. So that kind of sucked. Buuuut, they did play "Wake The Dead". So, as for the entrance of Dropkick Murphys with at least 3 minutes of a woman singing celtic style, and the anticipation building up for the lights to come on to reveal them. Now the thing between the Dropkick Murphys and I, is I've only heard a couple songs at least from them. And that was a long time ago. But nevertheless, I really enjoyed them. They're a good Irish punk band from Boston. And for the song "Kiss Me, I'm Shitfaced", turned me into an instant fan. For one of their songs, I think it was their last song, they brought a whole bunch of girls to mosh-dance with them on stage. And for the end of it, brought up a whole bunch of boys...so the stage was pretty full, but looked like fun. Bad Religion was up next. The first song I heard of theirs was "Infected". And I have liked them ever since. But that like turned into a love that night... They have a good energy. They weren't too crazy. Their setlist was... Suffer Infected We're Only Gonna Die Fuck Armageddon... This Is Hell Pity 21st Century (Digital Boy) I Want To Conquer The World (Dedicated that song to Winnipeg) Sanity 1000 Memories American Jesus Pity The Dead Let Them Eat War For their encore, it was just Greg that came on with a stool and acoustic guitar, and played some solo acoustic stuff from his new project with Winnipeg's own The Weakerthans...it was really cool. Well that was it folks. A good punk concert. And it took me 1/2 an hour to find my car cause I forgot where I parked, and I was freaking out in my head that someone stole it or it got towed... :) Next concert: Frank Black in November!!! 18 September AOF w/ guestsSo... This will be the story of going to see Alexisonfire...once again. And I'll finish writing it when I wake up tomorrow, cause I'm exhausted. I hate mosh pits. But I love them. Ok so it's after work. And where to start about last night... I got to Victoria's house about 4:50ish pm so she could straighten my hair. Then we leave about 5:30ish and we take my car and drive to the Winnipeg Convention Centre. We get in, and go to the 2nd level, and as we were going up I asked Tori "are you ready for chaos?", and as we arrived up there...my god, that was a long line-up. Seriously, if you stretched it out, ...well I don't know exactly how long it'd be. But it was long. And we waited for at least half an hour to get to the stairs to the 3rd level. They check our bags, pat us down. And we go on up. We checked out the merch tables. Stood in line for awhile there. But I got an Every Time I Die t-shirt, and we both got Alexisonfire t-shirts. By that time, Attack In Black where playing. So we go in for that. I think they played a 5 song set? And then Cancer Bats came on. I really enjoyed them and so did Tori. We went and got us some jumbo hot dogs and pop. And stood in the backish by this table and ate. They played a 5 or 6 song set. But they got the crowd kinda going at least. We decided to go in the crowd for the last couple songs. A bit of some moshing going on. So when they finished, Every Time I Die set up. I knew they were going to be pretty crazy. And I told Victoria that too. They begun, and the beginning of the mosh was ok. Then it started getting a bit more crazier. The crowdsurfing began more, and people getting flung onto of your head out of no where. One guy got flung on top of Tori, and she couldn't hold him up so he fell on his head. Hmm, it was a pretty intense moshpit, we couldn't take much more of it, so we went out for a bit. We were sweating and tired...and we still had yet to see Alexisonfire. So while standing in the back, I was taking a look at my t-shirts and noticed that I had in fact, asked for the wrong t-shirt. So, after Every Time I Die played. We decided to cut right into people, and we ended up 3rd row from the front again. There was this one girl in front of me, and her friends were beside me, and I guess she was trying to get her friends to be more close to her, so she was telling them that she would push me back, and try to get them in, and so she tried and pushed me, and I didn't budge much and I pushed her back, and she was like "ohh, haha guess that didn't work out", and I was like "yeah well it's kind of hard to do that when I knew your plan already!".....dumb bitch. Then she's like "oh just wait till the show begins..." Like wtf, oh that really scared me. So after that incident I just made fun of her the whole time while they were setting up for Alexisonfire. AlexisONFIRE begins. Pretty wikid intro. Kind of reminded me of the intro to Story of the Year. But a little bit more weak. So, they come on stage, the crowd goes wild. They start screaming, and the moshing starts. Sad to say, I didn't last one song. I was squished and I felt as thought I was going to faint. So I was pushing my way out. Lost Tori for a bit. But made it out. I remember there was this one girl while they were setting up, and this girl beside Victoria, she looked as though, she was either gonna faint or stab someone...funny. Anyways, after that short experience. I went out and exchanged my t-shirt. And we sat down for awhile. Then we noticed Attack In Black, and the lead singer of Cancer Bats were signing autographs so Tori made me go get some. Nice fella's. The lead singer of Cancer Bats is pretty damn cute. So we waste some time, and then I got sad cause we initially came to see Alexisonfire and we missed like 4 songs already. So we went back in and stood at the back. They also, double encored. The first double encore for them! Good stuff. The only sad thing, they didn't play "You Burn First", which is my ultimate favorite song of theirs right now. So, their set list, I'll tell you of what I remember, in no particular order: Boiled Frogs We Are The Sound Keep It On Wax Accidents (encore) No Transitory Get Fighted .44 Caliber Love Letter (encore) Well kids, that's about it. Another night, another concert. It was better than when I saw them with The Used. And I hope they come back sooooon. :) ...until then I can start working out to be in those god awful mosh pits. Next concert: Bad Religion / Dropkick Murphys - September 25th!!!!!!!! I'm so incredibly excited. 19 August Regina Folk FestivalWell. I went to Regina last weekend because a friend of mine there bought us tickets to go to the folk festival! Yup! I was pretty excited to hear that we'll be seeing Ani DiFranco and Feist live. Feist exceptionally. So, I shall start from the beginning. Grab a bag of chips and some pop... August 10th I work from 2-8pm. I have to waste some time so I go to Wendy's for like an hour. Talked to my mom on the cell phone. Yadda Yadda. Around 9ish I took 2 buses I believe to get downtown to the bus depot. I friggen hate that bus depot. Reason being is because I'm racist. To only one kind of race really. Maybe two. But yeah. So I get there around 9:45pm. And take a seat in the way back. Talk to my mom on the cell phone again and waste some more time. I decide to get comfy and just stretch out and listen to my iPod. Haha...yeah, good luck getting comfy on those chairs. I might of been well off sitting on bare rocks. The confectionary place was closed so I couldn't get something to drink or eat. I sat some more. Finally some excitment happened when a lady was struggling, I mean really struggling to get her baggage into a locker. It's like one of those scenes in movies. It was hilarious. I was trying to help her, but she hurt me, cause I was trying to get the strap of the bag out of the way and she was kicking her bag and then it scraped my finger...so I was virtually no use. She had this little kid bike and she was trying to get that in there. Oh boy. Anyways, she gave up on the bike and decided to get another locker for her other bag and I gave her a dollar for her four quarters cause I'm generous. And she was off on her way. My bus departed at 11:45pm. The line-up for the bus was giant. How can that many people be going to Saskatchewan on a late Thursday night?! But afterall, when I got on the bus, I had two seats to myself. There was no movie playing, so bascially, it was a boring ride. Very boring. I just listened to my iPod the whole way bascially. I think I fell asleep once or twice for like 10 mintues. Arrive in Regina at 5:55am. August 11th I get off the bus and wait for my one bag. I spot Shelly, well I thought it was her, but I didn't do anything cause there was the off chance it wasn't...so I go to the other side of the bus and she comes up to me and ....yeah we're off. It was sorta really quiet. But not awkward. We just had nothing to say I guess. I was dead tired and I felt like a bimbo, so I wasn't helping. We go to her place to drop off my bag and pick her mom up to take her to work. Her mom is extraordinaly nice. Had some conversations. And we're off again. After dropping her mom off, I think we went to Wal-Mart because I wanted to pick something up. Then we argue about what to eat for breakfast and end up going to McDonalds. I wasn't even hungry, and I don't think she was either. So we sat at her house giggling like children instead of eating. After that I took a shower, then I think we went to Regina's historic museum. I finally started talking more and lightning up. It was fun. After that I think we went to the mall. And then we went to A&B Sound and found they were closing their doors. Poor Shelly. That was her favorite place to shop, she pretty much kept them in business for as long as they were there I am sure. Hmm then I think we went to HMV. I picked up Neko Case's: Blacklisted, Red Hot Chili Peppers: Californication, The Rasmus: Dead Letters, and The Breakfast Club. I have no idea what we did after that. But around supper we went to Popperino's (sp?). Both had Chicken Stir Fry which we both couldn't finish. Then off to Folk Fest! That was around 6:30-7pm I do believe. I forgot what we did when we first went there...I believe it was raining. So I think we ran back to her car and grabbed the chairs and umbrellas and such. We get back there, set up our chairs, and about 5 mintues later it stopped raining, and about 30 mintues later it was cleared up... Again I forgot who we were watching. But we left our chairs and went to the merch tables and picked up...merch. Shelly helped me change into my new Ani t-shirt. Good times. She took her hat off and put her new Ani bandana on, and we were ready for...Ani! We head to the stage for Bedouin Soundclash. We are off to the left of the stage, I had a good view while Shelly had a horrible view because there was a giant pole and some banner over a fence. Bedouin was AWESOME. Yes. They're so funkish. I love them. And I would really love to see them again sometime! I do remember them playing When The Night Feels My Song, Gyasi Went Home. Yes, if I knew more of their stuff I would tell you their full set list of course. There was like two more acts after them, Nadia Gaudet played like two songs. Maybe it was just her. Anyways next was ANI DIFRANCO! Her setlist which Shelly and I was terribly confused by, but I think she did a good job of remembering most of the songs...: God's Country Shroud Nicotine 78% H2O Decree Hypnotized Manhole Studying Stones Swan Dive Encore: Shameless Evolve From not knowing a whole bunch of her music, I really enjoyed her tremedously. She has a good vibe. Outgoing personality, very funny. At the end of one song I remember her saying "Did anyone else smell donuts right in the middle of that song?" Then she want on about how Tim is fucking rich and should be the face on the loonies. Sad moment: I could've sworn she was going to play The Whole Night, which is my favorite song of hers. But alas, it turned into Shameless. Which I have no complaints, well I guess I do. But whatever! Nothing I could've done. So her set lasted till about 11:30pm I think. Shelly and I both deaf went back to her car to go back to her house. We were both in pretty good moods after that. I think we watched tv or something, then off to bed we went. August 12th Got up about 10:30am. Got ready. We headed out about noon I think. Oh we did so much Saturday...we went to a couple music stores, the mall and bought sweaters spontaneously. I believe we went to back to the festival after that and watched...alot of bands play. We grabbed lunch. Walked around, saw some more bands/artists. I am 'in love' with Kyrie K. Haha. Yes. So since we didn't have tickets to see the 'bigger' artists/bands perform that night, I believe Steve Earle was one of the artists performing, we left around 5:30pm. Went to the movie theatre and watched Over the Hedge. Good movie. Then we went and bought the movie Waiting... and bought us some supper at The Extreme Pita. Went back to her place and watched the movie and ate. Then watched some Tori Amos music videos. Bedtime. August 13th Got up about the same time, showered, blah blah. I believe we headed right out to the festival. Got lunch. Watched the bands perform. We saw Feist perform!!!! And I met her!!! I love her too. I asked if I could take a picture with her and she's like "haha, I haven't combed my hair in like three days!". Anyways, got my pic with her. Shelly and I were walking and she stopped to meet Rozina from LAL. I asked if they really opened for Nelly Fertado before and t'was true. Asked her if she still talks to her cause apparently they are good friends, and she said they hardly get in touch anymore...I wonder why! Maybe because she's a big ass hoe-bag slut now! How 'bout that. After that meeting. We...um. Oh, we got pizza and then it started to rain so we ran to her car. And of course the day we WEREN'T prepared with umbrellas it starts to pour. So we sat in her car, then she went and phoned her dad to bring us some umbrellas and a blanket. Then what does it do after all of that? It clears up! No way. So...anyways. We set up our chairs in the back. Watched Angela Menard. I do believe that is one artist I can stand to live without her music. That's just way too much. Hmm, Five Star Homeless came on, and we left to go to the merch tables again. Pretty much bought every cd there. No, really. Hmm, I do believe after that we sat down for a bit. Some guys came over to us asking if we'd like our picture taken, it'd be posted on a website and we could download it for free. Sure. Then some 50/50 draws we entered. Then decide to ditch the chairs because I was panicing over a bunch of people standing in a line. I just knew those savages were waiting in line for Feist. So poor Shelly had to bring the huge heavy backpack full of stuff with us. But we made it to the front again. I have no idea how, but we did. We sat there through Utah Phillips. That guy is hilarious. Don't be decieved by his age. His humor has it all. But his songs weren't quite my thing. That was some pure folk. After Utah, it was Alpha Ya Ya. That was one enjoyable concert right there. Very much for the lady who was shaking her booty through the whole thing for us. But no, it was fantasic. Got the crowd really pumped up for Feist!!! Yes, Feist! She puts on an incredible concert. She can really rock that guitar too. That's hot. Fun fact: Feist has roots to Regina! Apparently her grandparents lived there, and she would go visit them and all that. That was neat to find out. Her setlist: When I Was A Girl Secret Heart (about when she would visit her grandparents in Regina, her grandfather would take her to the old clock tower and yeah...) Inside And Out (solo on her acoustic) Mushaboom and a bunch of new songs from her up and coming album! Which sounds like a fantasic one! Can't wait. After Feist was the big finale which everyone, except Ani DiFranco, went on stage and sung Sunshine my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray...etc. Good finale. TOFU (Tons of Fun University) and Kyrie K. went on and did a final song together. T'was good. Good good finale. I miss it already...and I erased the picture of it because I was trying to make room for another picture...:( Well that was a fantastic weekend! I would do it all over again yes, definitely! Maybe I will check out Winnipeg's Folk Festival next summer... August 14th Woke up, said my goodbyes. Shelly dropped me off at the bus depot. Off to another long bus ride, though this bus ride was 9 hours. And stopped in like every fricken town possible. I was so upset by the time I was back in Winnipeg, which was at 9:45pm. And I left Regina at 12:00pm. So, 21 cd's, new sweater, new hat, $550 spent, 3 new crushes later, I am still wanting to be back there. And I don't know why! -J.T. 21 Juli We don't care anymore!Story of the Year, Hawthorne Heights, Halifax and AnBerlin This was one good concert. Good ol' punk rock concert! I got to the Burton Cummings around 6:30 (yup late again), and I handed them my ticket, and yes, you guessed it, headed straight for the merch! I'm addicted to band t-shirts now... First was Halifax's merch table. The guy was like "hey what's up", and I said "I want a shirt", what great conversations eh? Anyways, I picked a black one out...it's kinda funny, it's some cat carrying a woman in it's mouth. Pretty interesting! I really enjoy Halifax, and I was excited to see them perform, luckily there was no bands on yet! Hahaha, of course as soon as I head to Hawthorne Heights merch table, Halifax comes on! But I get a H.H. t-shirt anyway. It's pretty wikid. So I go in to the floor, show the lady my ticket, and head for the front. I get a spot by this sorta floor balcony thing. It was a good view. So Halifax. I knew a few songs...I'll try to tell you some of the playlist: Sydney Anthem For Tonight I Hate Your Eyes Hey Italy Better Than Sex Nightmare So I think that's it, maybe there was one or two more... Overall thoughts of Halifax: They were OK. They tried to pump up the crowd over and over. But when you're first on stage I guess it's hard to get into motion. Poor guys though, they tried, they poured their sweat and blood into the concert pretty much. Umm, would I see them again? Prolly, only if they were headlining though. Next up was AnBerlin. I haven't heard their stuff before, or not that I know of. I actually enjoyed them at first, but got kind of annoyed at the end. Don't know exactly why. The lead singer was a bit too eccentric for me. And he was always fixing his hair. Like does anyone care what your hair looks like when we're rocking out? Would I see them again? Probably. If I knew more of their stuff. Story of the Year - AWESOME!!!! I did year their latest album and I liked a few songs. But wow. These guys know how to rock! I enjoyed them tremendously. And if they come back again, I will be getting a ticket most definitely. Now I'll tell you what songs I remember them playing: Until The Day I Die Anthem For Our Dying Day In The Shadows We Don't Care Anymore Our Time Is Now Sad I know, but that's all I can remember. So after that set, I was on my way to the merch tables, and I ran into my friend Trevor. Talked to him for a few, he introduced me to his friend that was with him. Then I went and bought another t-shirt...hehe. Hawthorne Heights...umm I wouldn't of chosen them for a closing band. At the end of a concert you're suppose to be pumped up and what-not. But with their slowish songs, they calmed me down. I like them, don't get me wrong. But I would've put them before SOTY. Their setlist from what I remember: Saying Sorry Silver Bullet Pens And Needles Ohio Is For Lovers Haha, sorry, I just have a bad memory. If I remember more of what they played, I'll update. Would I pay to see them again? Of course. Well at the end of the night, I ended up with 3 t-shirts (Halifax, Hawthorne Heights and Story of the Year). I was pleased. 07 Juli She Wants Revenge - I hugged Justin Warfield!!!She Wants Revenge, Mellowdrone and Ima Robot Ohmygosh!!! What an awesome show tonight! So I shall start with when I first enter the Pyramid (twas my first time being there), kinda a grungish club/bar whatever. Anyways, they check my I.D., she takes my ticket and stamps me. And I head right to the merch tables... I first buy my friend Trevor a SWR t-shirt cause I said I would, it's black with red writing. Pretty neat. Then I buy myself a charcoal color one with pink writing. I love it. So that's $40 right there. Oh funny story about paying him. Before I went there, I was at the mall to get batteries for the digital cam, and to take money out to buy merch, and it gave me the really really old twenty dollar bills. So when I handed them to him, he was like "what are those?" and he held one of the bills up to another guy and that guy was like "oh those are older bills, it's ok", and the other guy laughed. I was like "don't worry I don't use conterfeit money"... So after buying those t-shirts, I decided to buy a Mellowdrone t-shirt, because I had the money, why not. And I sure glad I did support them in some way, they were really really good!!! So yeah, the lead singer is all "drugs are good", and the guy behind me was like "yeah in your opinion" haha... So while they were playing, I drank two Red Bull's. And Adam walked past me like four times, and once he smiled...aww *blushes*. Oh that's prolly cause I went to the washroom and put my new SWR t-shirt on, and he noticed...haha. Maybe. Then after they played, Ima Robot set up. They were really neat! I do say, go see them if you can. The lead singer kinda scared me, but they were a fun band to watch. So after they played, some guys were setting up for She Wants Revenge, and one of the guys knocked off a drum stick from Ima Robot, and I was happy to pick it up. So as the guys were setting up, I was talking to this couple beside me for awhile. And then this older guy beside me told me how he had just recently gotten into them, and he was staying in a hotel and say SWR perform on Jay Leno, or Saturday Night Live, or one of those shows, and then he was drinking coffee in a coffee shop here and saw the poster of SWR were coming here and then he bought their cd and a ticket. Haha, some people are funny. He was nice. Hmm, so yes... SHE WANTS REVENGE: one word: amazingful. They played all their songs except "Stripped". And I saw Justin look at me, three times. Yes I knew all the words to all the songs ok? After they played I grabbed one of the setlists, haha, I seen another girl reaching for it, so I grabbed it quickly, and the couple beside me laughed. And after that, went outside, and Justin was by the tour bus, and I handed him the setlist and was like "do you have a pen?" and he didn't, so I had to go back in, I asked the merch guys if they had one, no. Like who doesn't have a pen? Then I went more inside and found one on a table, and ran back out to Justin who was with people already, actually he was with the guy who told me how he had gotten in SWR...so yeah. Then I told Justin that I found a pen, and he was like "what's your name" and I told him, and I told him thanks for coming to Winnipeg, and it was an awesome show and yadda yadda yadda. And I asked if I could hug him, and he smiled and said "sure" and yeah: I HUGGED JUSTIN WARFIELD! Hehe. Then I asked him where Adam was, and he didn't know, he said maybe he was on the patio. So I went there and I couldn't see him, so I went back in, and asked the girl who took tickets if she had seen Adam, and she's like "who?" ummm you moron, the guy in the band that you're taking tix for... no I didn't say that but I wanted to. I said "the guy in She Wants Revenge" and she's like "oh I don't know, I saw him go that way".....right ok. So yeah, no luck finding Adam. Oh well, at least I got Justin's autograph. He said this on the playlist: "To Justine, it was a pleasure. - Justin SWR XO Anyways, it was fun, and I want them back soon.... GO SEE SWR!!!! Next concert: Story of the Year & Hawthorne Heights w/ Halifax, Anberlin and Zao!!!!! 05 Juli D/C, C&CDashboard Confessional w/ City and Colour and John Ralston Ummm, so today started out as a good day. I recieved my report card, and in case any of you don't know, I haven't 'graduated' yet. Cause I never finished my math. But....I took this spring course at the UofW Collegiate. And my mark was 70%! I was expecting a usual 50...but a 70?! Now I might, like....really might get accepted at U of W! I'm pretty stoked. Ok so back to the concert. Um. I got to the WCC around 7:30pm I think. I am always late. But being late this time didn't pay off. There was still a HUGE lineup. But it went pretty quick. There were these guys scalping tix and I was like hmm maybe if I buy one, a friend will come. So I get one for $25. Phone up a friend, no she can't come she has plans blah blah. Phone up another friend, she has a paper due and has to get up early. Come on ppl, a FREE ticket! Ugh. really need new friends!!! That like concerts. Am I too nice? I dunno. Anyways so yeah, alone to the concert I go, again. I get in there, they search my bag, stamp me. I go straight in to where John Ralston was playing, then decide to go to the merch tables. So it's my first time buying a band t-shirt. I don't know the rules of pushing and shoving your way to the front of the line just to get a friggen t-shirt ok. So I kinda let these girls budge in front of me, I'm not one to get fitty in a merch line, you'll get something eventually. So yeah, these girls behind me were all like "I'm getting pissed off at this girl, why can't she just push her way through, blah blah blah blah" Well here's an apology to girls like you "i'm sorry i'm not as much as a bitch compared to you, next time, why don't you just shove past me just so you're happy and can shut yo mouth foo'!" Yeah!. So I do finally get to the front get a Dashboard Confessional shirt first, a pink one. It's kinda cool. I was too poor to buy the cool hoodie. Then I go to the City and Colour line, which there was none, and I buy a shirt from there. It is kinda big though. Ugh. I go to the washroom, put the City and Colour tshirt on. I'm good to go in. City and Colour was playing. I missed half of "Somtimes". Then he plays "Comin Home", "Casey's Song" (btw, Casey was playing the bass for him, and Dallas said he stole the song from him and that's why it's called what it is.) Then he played "Save You Scissors", and ended with a new song of his, he says that he won't come out with a new album for awhile since he's on tour with Alexisonfire! Ah, I hope they come back here. With underOATH especially... Anyways, after C&C, I went and bought a bottle of coke, for $3.00! What rip-offs. So yeah, I go and make my way through some of the crowd. I end up kinda in the middle right hand side. Dashboard comes on, first with just a screen, and you can see their shadows with the spotlights shining on each individual. Then the screen goes up and everyone of course screams. Cause yeah, it's D/C! John Ralston plays in his band. And some girl that plays the violin, and the drummer and bassist. Which I forget their names. But Dashboard said he has some good friends in Winnipeg, who are the Weakerthans! Yay! They're a goooood band. I want to see them sometime. Anyways yeah Dashboard played...."Dusk and Summer, "Hands Down", "Screaming Infedilities", "The Ghost Of A Good Thing", "Vindicated", then he covered Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees"and some more new songs. "Hands Down" was actually part of his encore. I think his encore was like two songs... So all in all, I give that concert a 2 1/2 out of 5. Docking marks cause 1) I hate the venue, 2) Some people just have to ruin it for others, 3) City and Colour's set was short and 4) I couldn't see much of Dashboard, mostly because I'm short and the guy directly in my view to see D/C had a huge mohawk! But anyways. I'm glad I did actually get to see D/C and City and Colour live. Well, from what I 'saw' of them... After the concert, I was heading out cause I wanted to meet Dallas and peeps but there was sooooooooo many people that I just left, and as I was going down the esculator, a guy was selling John Ralston cd's and I decided to spend more money and for $15, I got his cd. And, I only went in a circle after the concert, trying to find Portage Ave. Haha, I always get confused, but after the cirle I finally knew where I was going. Woot. Well, so long and goodnight. Thanks for reading, if you do. Next concert: She Wants Revenge w/ Ima Robot and Mellowdrone!!! 31 Mai Y'all with the vampire squad?!Greeley Estates, Yesterday's Rising, So They Say, The Stiletto Formal Ok evening: left class early at 6:10pm to bus it to the mall where my mom was waiting with my purse and my chucks. Changed shoes real quick and ran to another bus to go yes, back downtown. So I get off the bus early thinking I'll walk the rest of the way, but I seriously always get lost, whenever I'm gonna be somewhere at a decent time, something messes up. So I walk up and down the street where WECC is, but I guess I don't go far enough up the street. So I ask these two guys by the Ramada where it is and they say they don't know and ask if I was going to see Greeley tonight, and I said yeah, and the one guy was like "well if you see (said some girls name) slap her for me, she'll be wearing green laced leotards". Umm ok right. Thanks for their wonderful help. So I go up down Ellice again, and I get frightened easily, so bascially I was running down the street, and yeah I FINALLY get there at like 7:45pm. Doors opened at 7:15....ugh. I go in, give the one guy the ticket, another guys asks if I'll be drinking, and I said "yeah, probably"...haha. Checks my I.D., and then he stamped me and I go in. So The Stiletto Formal were playing when I first got there. I was deaf in like 2 minutes. I was standing in the back of the venue for about 5 mintues before I decided to go check out the merchandise. Greeley had no pins so I was sad and moved on to The Stiletto Formal table and I bought their two of their pins. I proceed to where I was first and try and pin one of them onto my bag but it was dark and no such luck. I then decide to go get a drink, and I see Guinness. I was like, no harm in trying something new so I paid $5.00 for it. I go back to where I was again and try pinning the pin on again with no luck. I see my friend Trevor come in and I yell his name but he didn't hear me. So I poured the beer into the cup and I walked over to him. We stand there and listen to TSF until their set is done. They were an interesting band, they toured with one of my fav bands "theSTART" a few times, so that's neat. After their set we go and sit down at a table and talk. So They Say is on next, we go and listen to them, they were ok...rocked out to them a bit, they only had like a 5 or 6 -person mosh pit. Went and sat down again and chatted. Next up: Yesterday's Rising. I really really enjoyed them. Nice screamo band. But they mix screaming with melancholy sound. Trev enjoyed them too. Again though, they had a small mosh pit. I wish their set was a bit longer, maybe they'll come back another day. Up next: GREELEY ESTATES. Yesss, wow, what an intesnse mosh pit, concert....amazing performance. Lots of people were moshing, and Trev helped some of the people out and the lead singer (Ryan) shook his hand! It was neat. They played "Y'all With The Vampire Squad", and I swear my voice ran out during the song. Umm, what else. It was great. And yeah, if you EVER get a chance to see these guys and you like screamo, GO SEE THEM! They are worth every penny. So after their encore, Trev and I go get some water. Then I asked him if he wanted to meet the band and take pics with them and he's said no. But then when he wanted to go check out the merch, he changed his mind. So I took his pic with Josh first, then with Ryan and Dallas together. And then to top it off, like shaking his hand wasn't enough, Ryan gives Trevor a FREE t-shirt for helping people in the mosh pit out! Uh, yes very jealous!!!! It's a sweet tee. So yessss he drives me back home and now I am here reminising (sp?) of the awesome and tiring evening. Goodnight, peace. <3 Next concert: Dashboard Confessional w/ City And Colour!!!! 20 April Protest the Hero w/ guestsWell another concert has come and gone. As I sit here drinking my Red Bull and listen to tunage, I've realized I've become nonetheless: deaf. That was one LOUD concert. Hmm, so my night: we'll start off with...missing 3 buses. Yup always late for concerts. So I walked from my house down Dakota a bit. And picked up a bus. Then at the mall I picked up another bus but it was the wrong bus haha..yup. So I had to go back to the mall and pick up the right bus. Then I had no idea where the Collective was anyways, never been to that venue before. But I found it alright. Went in, got stamped. The stamp was glow-in-the-dark. Tis pretty sweet. I asked the security person if I missed much, cause the doors opened at 6pm, but I didn't get there till 8 or a bit after. He said I hardly missed anything. I guessed I only missed Machete Avenue. So I went in and found The Spill Canvas on stage rocking out already. I was pretty much in the middle of the crowd, could hardly see anything cause there was this tall guy in front of me. So they played like 4 songs. And yeah, not alot of people seemed to enjoy them, except a few girls. So after they were done, I made my way to the front. Next up: A Wilhelm Scream. At first I was really digging them. Good screamo band. So I was having a good time taking pictures and such, then all of a sudden the lead singer said: "Now we're going to worship Satan!"...Uh yeah. Ok. I don't think so. So I stoped dancing a bit. Worship Satan? Ugh. Oh well, I didn't enjoy them that much after that. After them: BAYSIDE! Yes, the band I've been waiting for about a year now to see live. And the wait was really worth it. I find if you liked the band before you see them live, chances are you'll like them even more live. And that's the way it went. The only downfall is they didn't play "Dear Tragedy" or "Don't Call Me Peanut". Oh well. I wanted to get the one of the two set-lists but no some savages already grabbed them before they even finished. Oh well...they played: Montauk Devotion And Desire Blame It On Bad Luck They Looked Like Strong Hands Existing In A Crisis (Evelyn) Tortures Of The Damned Half A Life Masterpeice It was the single most exciting moment I've enjoyed in awhile. Well longer than a moment. But it was great. Next: Protest the Hero. I really enjoyed them. When I went to The Used / Alexisonfire concert, people DO NOT know how to mosh. Bascially cause alot of them are young and dumb and just push you around. But this time people knew how to mosh. Even the girls were doing it. Except there was this one fellow...I don't know if he was drunk or just really excited but he kept crowdsurfing onto the stage and then he'd dance on there with the band and grab them and stuff. And he fell so many times. Then he moshes right into me so I backed up and let him have my place right in the front. But he didn't stay there long. Gah, I'm glad he went on the other side of the mosh pit. I've never been so close to a band like Protest. The bassist, and guitarists kept coming really close to me. And all I could do was headbang. I think I recognized Chris from my old high school (MBCI)...I could've sworn that was him. He's turned emo. Heh. Yeah well that was a fun time. My legs and knees are burised quite badly, cause since I was right at the front, people kept moshing into me and I kept getting mashed into the stage. Well next concert, hopefully it will be Greeley Estates, or maybe Saves the Day. We shall see. <3 09 April Metric once again!Metric...again. Wow I can't believe how much I love this band. Or actually, I can believe, cause they just put on such a great show. Who saw them coming... You ask was this concert better than their first. My answer, yes. Not to say the first time I saw them they were horrible. But the Burton Cummings Theatre is bigger, better place to be, and that place Metric deserves to be. Not the Ramada like last time. I think the concert was sold out, if not, really close then. I was 11th row, centre. So I had a decent seat. So I get there around 20 after 7 pm. Late again as per usual to concerts. Doors opened at 7. So when I got there, no one was playing yet. I chatted on the cell with Richa for a half hour a bit longer. 8pm this band came on, didn't hear of them before, and now I totally forgot their name. Oops. They were good though. They kept breaking guitar strings though, that must've been quite embarrasing but the lead singer said "Don't worry, we will persevere for you Winnipeg".They played like 4 songs. Then around 9pm The Elected came on. I thought they'd be a bit better than they were. No offence to anyone who likes them. They kinda bored me to say the least. They played a few songs. After they played I went out to the lobby and checked out the bands merchandise. I wanted a Metric hoodie sooooo bad. But of course I didn't take money out of the bank...(always thinking)...I went out to see if I could see the nearest bank, but I couldn't see anything except a hotel and some more stores. So I went back to the concert area. Some guy stopped me thinking I was playing the whole "run-in-without-a-ticket" stunt. So I had to show him my ticket. Then show some other lady my ticket to go back to my seat. I think it was around 10:10pm Metric came on. Man, that was a long wait...from purchasing the ticket Jan. 27th then waiting till tonight, then having them come on at 10...jeez. But yeah, it was so worth the wait. I wanted to get closer to the stage, but people started lining up right after The Elected played. Savage animals. Just kidding, but seriously. I was kinda mad cause I wanted to get a good spot. Oh well. So yeah they came on and as I took the first picture, one of the security staff came over to me and told me "no cameras allowed here" and I said "oh I'm so sorry" and he said "just hide it *wink*" So yeah I got away with that one, phewf. Ok now....(I shall tell you their playlist): Live It Out Glass Ceiling Too Little Too Late Poster Of A Girl Monster Hospital Patriarch On A Vespa The Police And The Private Ending Start Calculation Theme Wet Blanket Encore: Combat Baby Hustle Rose Empty Dead Disco Love Is A Place Well...most of them are in order. They opened with "Live It Out" and ended with "Love is a Place". So I am deaf and tired. And I want them back again really really really soon. I just can't get enough of them. Oh one thing though, Emily Haines didn't do her dance moves as much as she did in the first concert...:( Oh well I danced enough for that whole concert. 3 levels of screaming fans was a way to end a good concert. I <3 Metric x 1000000.394 12 Januar Bryan Adams!Another amazing concert to add to the list of amazing concerts I've been to :P So, my parents and I left at 6pm to get McDonalds. Ate. Then drove downtown and went to park the vehicle. And ya know, I told my parents we were gonna be really early. We get to the MTS centre at like 6:35. The concert doesn't start till 7:30. So we awhile waiting. My mom went to get coffee and stuff, and my dad and I talked about where I sat at Gwen Stefani and Foo Fighters, and then we talked about hockey, and then we talked about this guy who had a pair of binoculars. I dunno. I think it's the funniest thing when people bring binoculars to concerts. Finally my mom comes back. 10 minutes later the concert starts. Daniel Powter. Hmm. What can I say. I didn't really really enjoy him. One thing his mic was way too loud. Another thing, there's only so much you can do with two keyboardists, a bass guitar and drums. But I still really like his song "Bad Day". Maybe I'll like his cd better. I'll have to check it out. His on stage personality was cool though, he was a nice fellow. Talked about how he travelled with Bryan before, to like Europe, and was saying how he used to grow up listening to his music, and he was also saying how he's amazing cause he never seems to miss a note (talking about Bryan). So he played like 4 or 5 songs. Ok. Waited for a half hour. Man, that was a full concert, I'm not too sure it was sold out, but it was damn close. So, Bryan comes on I think at 8:30. A very loud welcome for him. He opens with "Room Service". Well, I'll just tell you the playlist from what I remember...in no particular order: Room Service Somebody 18 Till I Die I'm Coming Back To You Can't Stop This Thing We Started Back To You Summer Of '69 Heaven Run To You (Everything I Do) I Do It For You Cuts Like A Knife The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You Kids Wanna Rock Straight From The Heart Baby When You're Gone When You Love Someone It's Only Love When You're Gone Open Road Let's Make A Night To Remember Encores: All For Love Room Service (acoustic/solo) Ok well all I remember, there are like a few more I forgot. I'll prolly get them later. Cause there was like 5 songs he played acoustic and by himself. For "Baby When You're Gone", he brought up someone out of the audience. Her name was Rosa, and she worked at Royal Bank (everyone started booing). She didn't know all of the words. So Bryan was saying to her, you're not on a good start here, 1) you're from a bank, 2) you don't know all the words, and and 3) you say you can't sing. Then she goes on to say "But I'm cute!" And so Bryan goes "Well, I'll have to give you that one, cause you are." And then he asked someone to get the lyrics for the song so she can sing with him. It was actually the cutest/funniest thing I've seen at a concert. Well, one of the funniest things. She kept having to look down on the floor to see the words, and then she'd lose her place, it seemed she only knew the chorus hehe. Then she went on to dance and grind with him. Then he asked her who she's there with and she goes "With my friend, well actually my brother's best friend." And everyone goes "OHHH" and claps a bit. And then she goes "No, no! We're just friends!" And Bryan goes "Sure, sure. But I do have free t-shirts for you and your friend there." Lucky lucky, man I'm sure she'll be talking about that forever. For the song "All For Love", he went down to the front row, and hugged people, and took pictures with them, and shook people's hands!!!! What a personable guy, really. He sure knows how to win over a crowd. Things I remember Bryan saying: "Last time I came to Winnipeg, I had to get to the plane, but there was lots of snow, so I had to take a snowmobile to get there. So this time I came thinking I'd need to get another snowmobile ride, but there's no snow! (then there was a clapping, then he went on to say) "So I went to the lady at the desk of the hotel and asked for a snowmobile and she said to me "Hunny, everything I do, I'll do it for you" And that's how he went into (Everything I Do) I'll Do It For You. "I love being a singer/songwriter. You can write about alot. And there's this one song I want to share with you, and I never knew what it was about, and I still don't know what the hell it's about, but it has nothing to do with the summer of '69. (and that's how he went into Summer of '69. "I was talking to some people of the MTS Centre earlier and they were telling me how of all the times I played in Winnipeg, tonight is the biggest concert you've given me!" Keith Scott was the other guitarist. He was AMAZING! Wow, what a talented soul. He was kinda stealing the show away from Bryan there for a bit :-P Well, that's basically it, if you want to know more, go here: http://www.truenorthproject.mb.ca/press_releases/content.php?press_id=117 That's a bit of detail plus pictures of Bryan Adams and I think there's one picture of Keith. They were both wearing black t-shirts and jeans. Ok, so if you want to see a good rock 'n roll concert, not hard rock like AC/DC of course, but good soft rock n' roll, you should definately check him out and go to a concert of his if you haven't already. So next concert, well. To be honest there isn't anyone currently I want to go see. Hilary Duff comes January 15th, I don't think so. And Nickelback comes soon, forget when but it's a bit too late to get tickets. And Brad Paisley and Terri Clark come soon too. But it's too late for me to get tickets. Well, I'm sure there are tickets left but I don't want a crappy seat. So I asked my parents if I could go to the Winnipeg Folk Festival for my birthday this summer, they said ok. Woohoo, gonna be 20 years old! Can't wait. Take care kids. <3 17 November Gwen Stefani!!!1Bombshell Gwen wows crowd of 13,500
The Queen of pop, fashion, and red lipstick extended her queendom Wednesday night with a show for her faithful - and faithfully fanatical - at the MTS CentreWhat an incredible night...seriously. Well I got to the MTS Centre around 7:40, 10 minutes late...my bad. So I missed M.I.A. singing like a couple songs, but she did sing like 4 or 5 more songs. It was really kinda loud, they should of turned her mic down a bit. But it was good. She really can make you dance, well if you want to. She's gonna have a successful career, especially after touring with Gwen. Ok, well man...the half hour wait for Gwen was worth it. Her entrance was so amazing. The curtains lifted and the band started playing the beginning of a song and then Gwen comes up from the floor on the throne/chair that looks a hell of a lot like the chair on the cover of her CD. And she looked hot, whoa. Yeah, so she changed like at least 5 times, but she changes so fast, like less than 2 minutes, then she comes back to sing in a totally different outfit that looks like it'd take a normal person an hour to put on lol, not saying she's not normal just...ya know what I mean. And her 'Harajuku Girls' were so adorable and such good dancers wow. And the guys too very very good dancers, breakdancing and back flips and such, wow. I am still in awe. So songs she did: Harajuku Girls What You Waiting For? Crash The Real Thing Luxurious Danger Zone Wind You Up (new song) Orange County Girl (new song) Long Way To Go Cool Rich Girl Serious Bubble Pop Electric (that song there were bubbles coming outta the ground - so cool) Hollaback Girl (ended with that song) When she singing Hollaback Girl she brought up at least 20-30 girls from the front row and they got to DANCE AND SING with her, then after the song she HUGGED them all. I hate to say but I'm seriously jealous. There were like a couple 6 year olds, they won't remember that, jeez. Things I remember Gwen saying... "When I came out with my cd, I wasn't going to tour. I just wanted to put out my cd and that was that, I was too tired and whatever to tour. But then you guys kept buying my cd's and more and more of my cd's and then some more, you guys were seriously tempting me to tour weren't you!?" "Now where are the girls that I came out here to see and sing for tonight? Where are my fucking WINNIPEG GIRLS!" "Don't you all look hot tonight! Mmmm, Delicious and delictible!" I noticed, Gwen Stefani and Shirley Manson both....like every second word was the 'f' word...lol. Cause there were alot of young girls, well not alot but quite a few and I'm sure their parents who brought them didn't appreciate it. But who cares about them anyways, GWEN ROCKS! http://www.mtscentre.ca/press_releases/content.php?press_id=103 <------- go there to see pictures of her live at the MTS centre!!!!! Her outfits were wikid! So next concert is Bryan Adams. Going with my parents hehe. Oh well, a free ticket, not gonna complain. Getting the tickets this weekend. 24 Oktober MetricMetric. Was. Incredible. Hmm, I should really just end the blog there. It was such an amazing concert tonight. But ok. Dad drove me to the mall at 6. Got on the bus around 20 after to head downtown to the Ramada. Got there at like 6:45. And there was already like a zillion people in line. I was getting annoyed cause there were these girls in front of me who were being obnoxious and I had my head down cause I was getting out my ticket and the one girl in front of me swings her hand and she hits me on the head. Stupid hoe. But yeah...then there were 4 girls behind me and they were being all loud and saying things like "Ohh that's her thats her, remember her?" "No I don't remember her" "But she was your best friend a few years ago, she was short hair now and its red" "No thats not her" "Isn't her name like Emily or something?" "No it's Amanda or along those lines" "But that's not her so stop freaking out" "It is her, I swear it's her!" "NO ITS NOT HER" "Ok you two please let's not have an argument, lets have tonight a good night." And then talked about other girls they don't like. Oh my. So the doors were suppose to open at 7, but we didn't get in till around 7:20. There was such a fricken huge line. The concert was sold out. So when you first got in there were band stuff for sell, from The Lovely Feathers, I think Metric too. But too many people crowded around there so I didn't get a good look. All I noticed was $20 for a t-shirt and $60 for a homemade hoodie...maybe that was for Metric. So I didn't get anything. Then I went into the concert part. The Ramada is a theatre just so you know. So there were seats. But I chose to go on the floor to get a good view. So I ended up 2nd row to the front. The Lovely Feathers were very good I have to admit...weird band name, but good band. I swear the guy in the pink pants was gay...or something. But then The Most Serene Republic came out and I actually knew their songs. lol. So I sang along to some of them. Aw I love them. They're awesome. I got like a million pictures of Emma...cause I was on the left side of the stage, and I couldn't get a good view with the camera for the other side where the bass player was and such. The MSR's 2nd last song, The Lovely Feathers came out and sang with them. It was cool. Oh funny thing, they were wearing the same exact thing that they wore when they opened for Pretty Girls Make Graves. lol. Metric. What more can I say. They are very good...great...excellent, etc. Emily (lead singer), she's so quiet, she's all "thank you" after each song....haha. But she has some pretty unique dance moves. You should really check 'em out if they go to your province/state/country. They sung....(now remember I just got into them so I don't know alot of their songs off by heart so I'll just tell you the ones I knew): Empty Monster Hospital Dead Disco Combat Baby Calculation Theme Hustle Rose Love Is A Place Sad thing. Since I was on the left side of the stage. Emily was on the other side cause thats were her keyboard was set up. So she didn't come very close to the people by me. So I was like well I'll just take shots of her over there. So after I took all the pictures, sure enough she came like right in front of us, so close I could of touched her. So I could have got a really good shot of her. I hate when things like that happen...oh well. But yeah... Next is Gwen Stefani on Nov. 16th. Woot, hazaa, etc. 17 September The Used / Alexisonfire concert!Ok here's my evening, went down to Osbourne to meet Keith at Music Mart or whatever it's called (cool place you should check it out). And we decided to get supper at some mexican place...Carols and something rather. We had the chicken nacho platter. Yum. Then we walked down to the Winnipeg Convention Center around 7:15 pm or so. They search us, bags, etc. We get there while some band is playing. I don't remember who like 3 of the bands were. But anywho. We decide to go into the crowd. Push our way through to about the middle. Then some other band comes on, mosh to that. Then underOATH comes on. Aww I just love those guys. They rawk out. I sang along to A Boy Brushed Red Living In Black And White at the top of my lungs. Hmm. So that mosh pit was pretty crazy. So very insanely crazy. But it was cool. I got violated by boys and girls, and I'm sure I did the same to them. lol. So after underOATH comes Alexisonfire. They're pretty awesome. But didn't get to enjoy much of them cause Keith and I were 4th row to the front and it gets really squishy and crazy there. There was like 14 year old girls beside me getting thrown around. There's people who crowdsurf outta nowhere who end up on top of your head. Just crazy. So yea, stupid me, I didn't take my glasses off for the mosh pit, so they end up getting knocked off and fell to the floor. And then I started getting dehydrated and dizzy and clostrophobic, so I was yelling "let me out, let me out" cause there was these guys blocking the way for me to get out. And the one guy is like "Lift you up?" So he lifts me up and I go crowsurfing over two people, and that makes me even more nautious. So I am running through people pushing them out of my way. And yeah went and sat out in the lobby for like 15 min tell Keith came. His foot got stomped on like 10 times. Poor guy. What else. Uh, so I go look for my glasses after Alexis, and there they were. All disfigured and what not. Both lenses gone. lol. Oh well it was worth the experience. So we go back and stand in the way back for The Used. I couldn't see worth anything. Man. But they were alright, I heard better bands play live. They didn't get much playing time either. Poor guys. But I sang along to Maybe Memories and The Taste of Ink and once again my voice was lost for a bit. And yea that's basically the fun evening. People smoking up all around, drunk people going crazy, people who don't want to mosh, get thrown into the mosh pit. Trevor and I were talking about how people don't know how to mosh anymore. Well Trev, you're right. Alot of those people in the mosh pit obviously have never been to a punk rock concert or something cause they don't know how to mosh. They just tick you off and elbow you in the face and throw you around...but yeah. Until next time, take care kids. 10 September From first to lastWhere to begin. Got up at 6:30am. Got on the bus at 7:08 to downtown. Got to the MTS centre by 7:45 to get my Gwen Stefani ticket... there was two girls in there on the stairs already. So I waited outside for like 15 minutes. Saw two other girls go into the building. 5 minutes later I went in. So there we were, started out as 5 girls sitting and waiting. Then another one, and another, then some more, then a few more. So in total there was at least 50 people in a line before 10am. Then the bad news strikes. They are 'randomizing' the tickets! What complete idiots. We are willing to spend like 100 bucks on tickets, and they do that to us. So basically, we drew a ticket and whoever number they called first they went straight to the front of the line. And the front peope moved all the way to the back...alot of us were just ticked off. So the first people got their like 8 tickets each, then there was me who got 1. Floor ticket, but still....the 26th row...I doubt I'll make it to the front. Grrr. So yeah, never go to ticketmaster early. No use. Well I got to know this girl that was beside me in line pretty well lol. She was picking up tickets for her and her sister and husband, whatever, and her sister was getting married today so she was joking how she'll be running down the aisle putting her dress on. Then she showed me pictures of her adorable daughter. And yadda yadda yadda. That was an eventful, tiring day in itself. Take care kids, until next time...which will prolly be the night after The Used / Alexisonfire concert!!! Next weekend, woot! 26 August Garbage is unbelievable (the band)Ohhh I love Garbage 100 times more now. Man they just rock out in concert. So yea my evening: waited for Keith outside the TD building and he came whatever and told me he had to back out so yeah... Then we went to some vegan restaurant type thing. And we talked lots, caught up on music and how we don't really miss The Pas that much lol. Then he walked me to the Burton Cummings Theatre and we chatted outside for a bit. Gave me the ticket. Embarrasing story: I tried scalping a ticket. I saw a lady and she was waving (I thought to me), so I walked towards her and she was walking towards me, so as she got closer I said "Hi" and got the extra ticket out and was going to give it to her. But she walked right by me to this man that was standing like 2 feet behind me. She's like "Oh I thought you were waving to me." My face was so red. And I just played it off cool, you could tell Keith was thinking I'm an idiot. Well he left and I finally went in at 7:45. theSTART was the opening band. They were very good. They reminded me alot of The Distillers. They're from good ol' California. So after they were done I went and got myself a Garbage poster, freakin $15, rip offs. But gotta support them haha. Ok then went back for Garbage, and they ripped the roof off. Like wow. I was blown away by them. Shirley Manson is so funny. And also every second word that comes outta her mouth is "fuck"...so if you just black out all those 'f' words you'll actually get yourself some pretty funny stuff. They did: Queer Bad Boyfriend Boys Wanna Fight Sex Is Not The Enemy Why Do You Love Me? Vow Stupid Girl Only Happy When It Rains Metal Heart Happy Birthday (since it was the eve of her b-day she sung to herself) Bleed Like Me Shut Your Mouth When I Grow Up Push It Right Between The Eyes Encores: Happy Home Supervixen Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!) #1 Crush Not My Idea Yeah they opened with 'Queer' and at first it was like black and you couldn't see anything so halfway through the song the lights came on and I swear Washington could've heard us screaming. She was in a short red dress with black leotards and combat boot type things, but a bit before the song ended some guy came out with a pair of other shoes and helped her get them on. Some guy behind me was yelling durning like the whole concert at her, whatever she said he had a reply...he really really bothered me. "It's the eve of my birthday, and I can do whatever the fuck I want" - Shirley Manson (She said she'll be 39! Holy cow and she still is looking like she's 21, incredible. Must be the red hair...) "Whoever wants to leave can leave, cause I don't know when I'm gonna stop" - Shirley (Talking about she can go on still, and by that time it was like 10:45) "Butch is not with us tonight, dealing with family matters. But my twin brother Matt is replacing him tonight. He's a red head too, show him lots of love tonight." Funny story: when Garbage came back on for the encore thing, they were deciding what to play. And so the rest started playing this song (didn't know what it was) and Shirley goes: "No, I don't want to play that song. It reminds me of Lenny Kravitz." Then she went on this speal of something that I couldn't really understand. Then she goes again "I don't wanna play it, it reminds me of Lenny Kravitz and when I think of Lenny Kravitz I start to think of Nicole Kidman, and then I think of her stupid fake plastic eyebrows...they say she's one of the most beautiful people in the world, I DON'T FUCKING THINK SO!" Yup lol Shirley's great. She really is. Her and her Scottish accent...cause you know she's from Scotland, just like The Cardigans, or wait, maybe The Cardigans are from Sweeden...oh well, it's all the same thing but only different. Well incredible concert, and I hope they come back again...soon, and hopefully I'll get a better seat instead of the first balcony. Cause they rock. Take care kids. Can't freakin' wait. 16 August PGMG, TMSR and SH all rocked tonight!!!Yeah you heard me. Ahhh you notice how when you actually see your favorite bands or any band for that matter, your love or whatever for them just grows enormously? Yeah well that always happens to me, Like I wasn't huge huge fans of Foo Fighters but after I saw them they just have to be added to my favorite bands...yeah. So same goes for Pretty Girls Make Graves, and The Most Serene Republic, and of course Shawn Hewitt and the National Strike, they were just are so awesome tonight. And apparently PGMG arrived late so The MSR had to play a couple more songs. I was front stage again, Andrea Zollo (lead vocals of Pretty Girls Make Graves) came like inches away from me, yay, and after the concert I stole their peice of paper that had the songs they were to play, and Andrea's bottle of alcohol, but there's not much left in it, I took some pic's with the digital so you can check it out. Sorry I didn't get pic's of The MSR or SH & TNS, I was stupid, but I was so into them I totally forgot. But I took lots of PGMG...but yeah awesome concert, great people I rocked out with tonight. Next: bring on GARBAGE!!!! Shirley Manson rawks my socks. Woot! Take care kids. 11 August Foo Fighters rawked!!!!Yeah interesting evening/night. Fun though. I got on the bus around 5:30 to take me to the concert so I can get a good floor spot. But I'm stupid, so I went way the heck out to the boonies (Selkirk). I was stuck out by Garden Grove School for like 30 minutes. Then finally another flippin bus came. And so like I got there around 8. I missed Constatine. Oh wells, heard they sucked anyways. But I was in time for Sloan, they were pretty good. Yea so then like at first I was at least 20 feet from the stage, but people started getting thrown out off the floor because they were crowdsurfing, so I ended up like second row from the gate thing. And then Foo came out, and it was just a great concert. It was funny cause Dave Grohl was talking about how when they did the Mentos song or whatever that from then on people would throw mentos at them. And it happened tonight lol, so he asked for a lighter so he could burn them cause he wanted to 'retire' the Mentos. But like everyone started to throw lighters at the poor guy, and he got hit in the head 3 or 4 times. And ended up with like 30 lighters. It was great. And another thing, was at then end of this one song Taylor Hawkins threw his drum stick up and was going to catch it, but instead he fell back onto the floor on his ass. It was hilarious. So Dave told Taylor to sit out while he played 'Everlong' on the acoustic. It was nice. And yeah...just all in all a great concert. They played: All My Life Best Of You Everlong Tired Of You My Hero Breakout Learn To Fly Monkey Wrench And a few others I don't know the names to. Those aren't in the order they played either. "Fuck arena rock. Fuck arena rock. Fuck that shit. That shit sucks cocks." - Dave Grohl Garbage on August 25th with Keith. Can't wait for that one. Shirley Manson can write like the dickins. Well take care kids. Have yourself a good week!!! PS: Thanks Trevor for the ticket for only 40 bucks. you're awesome!!!! Love ya muchly. I owe you one. |
